January 2005 - Metal artist Teresa Thompson, a.k.a. Hot Metal Mama, was one of only 70 artists from more than 1,000 entries, invited to participate in the 2005 Pigeon Key Art Show, a highly rated juried and judged fine arts show. The annual show, ranked among the top 200 in the nation, is held on the historic Pigeon Key, located in the Florida Keys, approximately 90 minutes south of Miami.   This year's event is February 12 - 13, 2005. Festival hours are 10 am – 5pm and there is an admission fee of $10, which supports the restoration of the historical buildings on the island.

“The Pigeon Key Art Festival is a wonderful show and perfect venue for the tropical pieces I create,” said metal artist Teresa Thompson, “The Pigeon Key Foundation has created such a wonderful and well-respected event. I am honored to be a part of it.”

Thompson, a native of Florida, specializes in art featuring marine life, mangrove scenes, tropical flora and fauna, and custom designs pieces. Each piece is individually hand drawn and crafted. From fences and gates to wall art and landscaping sculptures, Thompson's work can be seen in homes, gardens and galleries from Key West to Colorado.

Pigeon Key is located 2.2 miles due west of Marathon in the Florida Keys.   Approximately 45 miles from Key West and 100 miles southwest of Miami, the island is connected to Marathon by the Old Seven Mile Bridge, built by Henry Flagler for his Florida East Coast Railway.

Since their founding in April 1992, the Pigeon Key Foundation has raised over two million dollars to restore the historical buildings on Pigeon Key. The funding of this extensive preservation effort comes from Foundation memberships, donations, and grants and awards made to the Foundation. Additional funding comes from the Pigeon Key Art Festival and marine science camps held on the island and attended by over 5,000 students per year.
